Waiting - a poem

Leaves

Waiting for the bread to toast and the kettle to boil. Waiting for the parcel to be delivered.  And for all the waiting that's inconsequential.

Waiting for my husband to return and my nephew to be born. Waiting for my family to visit. And for all the waiting with love.

Waiting for the benefit re-assessment and the test results.  Waiting for the paper to be refereed. And for all the waiting with anxiety.

Waiting for the clouds to lift and the tomatoes to ripen. Waiting for the leaves to turn.  And for all the waiting for nature.

Waiting for a friend to arrive and a cake to bake.  Waiting for the sun to shine. And for all the waiting with joy.

Waiting for the phone to ring and for an email to arrive. Waiting for the postman to knock. And for all the waiting in loneliness.

Waiting for the exhaustion to lift and the brain fog to ease. Waiting for the pain to end.  And for all the waiting with hope.

For all these things Eternal One, grant us the patience to wait, today and everyday.
