G-Max reverse bungee-bungy experience at Boracay Island

Here ye all you adrenaline junkies out there! Well, if you're one, let's do a high five right now, yeah! So once in a while (which for me is every opportunity I get), we long for an adrenaline-pumping experience to may it be in different forms through unexpected life happening faced with extreme emotions or this, intentional-riding of a head-shaking, soul pumping, and body throwing attraction.

I don't remember when I started liking on going to theme parks and looking for unique adventures but I think for some, it'll really be just a phase of life wherein you are up on what things are there and say "Hey! Let's do it!" and "Yeah, I am up for it" season. For this one though, it was a semi-spontaneous decision for us to step on the platform and do it because in the first place there was no solid plan to even go to Boracay [separate blog post for this local trip] where the attraction resides..

Getting ready for the G-Max ride Boracay
Jitters - Getting ready for the G-Max ride Boracay

So talking about bungees, it has been in my list of to-dos for centuries already in life since I think very few people have the courage to do so and come on, how cool is that to do it with someone... and in reverse... Haha! Definitely a thing.

I previously saw videos of this attraction even before we got to Boracay last Sept 2016 and I was like "I hope when the time comes I get the opportunity to ride it" since it was something new here in the country. And guess what, we are on the same island where it is located. Awesome! The attraction's name is G-Max, which may be derived from "Gravity Max"? I don't know just a guess. The only thing I was really bothered about is how much the ride costs. I kept seeing people's comments on the videos that it was really expensive. Again just a guess, since a lot of tourists are present on the island, they based the pricing on the foreign currency which I hope was the right decision for them.

Fake smiles lol! - Our faces before the pod launch

After inquiring regarding the costs, now we have to deal with the reality that it was around P1,500 per head with an option to record the experience via a USB (which is the video at the bottom of this post) for an additional P500. I was like "really!?, that is a lot for a single ride". We actually sat down for this and thought things over if it is really worth to get this with. And after a few minutes summing it all up, we decided to go with it as we are really not sure about when can we have or if we still really have a next opportunity to go here again. So after that decision, chills and electricity run through my body. This is it! We are going and there is no changing of minds. But man, being in the line (which was like super short, around 1 or 2 groups ahead of us) and seeing how the thing catapults up and down make you shiver and re-question yourselves "Why are we doing this again?" Haha!

G-max pod launch Boracay
Let out faces speak for this, G-Max pod launch! Waaaah!

And so this happened. Haha! The throw was so strong that your face will create an emotional face that you have never done before lol. So when you watch the video below, this part was all screams. Pardon us for the volume but we have to let it out there for this.

There is a part there where the pod keeps falling and you guys are facing the ground, that is the worst angle to be. It's like falling from a building over and over again and you can't stop it. No, you are not having a nightmare.. You are riding G-Max haha.

But the upside of it? the view was worth it. There will be parts on our video appreciating the view we had. When the ride is about to end, the pod goes slowly in to rest and that is where the magic happens.

Fear. Haha! When the angle of fall is bad

The attraction is facing the seaside so you'll have a nice view of the horizon while the wind continuously blows. I think the perfect time to ride it is in the afternoon while the sun is setting. From what we had experienced, we rode it around noontime and the sun is just too much for our eyes making it harder for us to appreciate everything fully. Overall, it was still a great experience for us (just not in the perfect conditions but it was nice).

We actually think that the cost of it is what it makes it more special because you kind of treasure the moment and make more something out of it. It will have a special place in your head because it was what it was at that time. It is normal for us to have these kinds of realization after because that is what we usually do after riding attractions for the first time - assessment overload. Haha!

So if you think that Boracay is all beach, bar, and stuff, try something new, try G-Max lol! I mean this in a good way. You won't have the same opportunity in the same state of being at the same location every time. Do it while you can! Try something new. It may bring new things to you and avoid regret later on. "Hindi ko sinasabing parang Y.O.L.O. ito, pero parang ganun na nga".
