Explaining the Dem View of Women and Democratic Socialists

The article surprised me:
Nearly 90 percent of men — and women — are biased against women, UN study finds

But, then I asked myself: "How broadly are they defining the term 'bias' in this study?"

It would seem that the percentage of people who are "biased" against women will go up as you define the term more and more broadly.

Also, let's consider the concern that the Dems did not vote for Elizabeth Warren because they are biased against women. This is the view that Dems are bias against women because they want them to be 'likable' and 'soft' while they don't feel this way towards men. So, the Dems don't force men to jump through these hoops.

Now, recall that some countries that are not-too-different from the US have voted for female heads of state who were not considered to be soft. For example, the Brits voted for Margaret Thatcher, who was know as "The Iron Lady." (She served from 1979 to 1990.)

To me, it seems that the US sits between countries that are really biased against women (e.g. Saudi Arabia has only recently given women the right to drive cars) and others who have at least elected female heads of state (e.g. the Brits elected Margaret Thatcher and the Germans elected Angela Merkel).

IMHO, the US will eventually elect a female head of state, but perhaps not in my lifetime (I'm now 67). When/if they do, it is possible that she will not be a progressive. Sadly, we may get our own version of Margaret Thatcher.

So, for example, if we contemplate a future where Trump gets elected, occupies the White House for another four years, and actually leaves voluntarily in 2024, then the Party of Trump will be looking for someone else like him. If they are very confident in their ability to win, then they may not worry about 'likability' or 'softness' just as did the conservative Margaret Thatcher's supporters who voted for "The Iron Lady" in Britain.

It may well be that the Dems are concerned about 'likability' and 'softness' because they're not confident in their ability to beat the Party of Trump. They may also be afraid of democratic socialism because of their lack of confidence. If the Dems are finally able to regain their confidence, then they may be less biased against women and democratic socialists.

Almost 90 percent of men hold some form of bias against women, according to a new global UN report.

Surprisingly, 90% of women do, too.
