3. Answer the following question:

Why do you think the poet loves the season well?

Answer: The poet loves the spring season becausethe nature looks beautiful and it is pleasant to walk about in the woods watching the flowers bloom. The trees are teeming with green leaves and it is the season of harvest. The birds sing their sweet songs. The bright sunlight fills the woods, hills and valleys.

a) Why is it sweet to visit the wood during springtime?


Answer: One can enjoy a lovely walk in the woods duringspringtime. Flowers bloom on the plain, the trees are filled with leaves, the forest glades teem with their bright forms and multi coloured birds sing softly. Therefore, it is sweet to visit the wood during springtime to enjoy the beauty of nature.

b) What does winter's cold do to the trees?

Answer: During winter the trees are stricken to the heartwith cold and therefore they droop.

c) What time of the day do you think it is when the green slope throws its shadows in the hollows of the hills?

Answer: The green slope throws its shadows in thehollows of the hill during sunset.

d) Why do you think the poem is titled 'An April Day’? Suggest an alternative title.

Answer: The poem is about a day in April when the seasonof spring begins. That is why it is called 'An April Day'. An alternative title could be ‘A Day in Spring’.
