JEE MAINS 2021 Information - NTA brochure



The information brochure for JEE Mains 2021 has been released by NTA. The brochure consists of the entire schedule of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2021. In this blog I will be explaining you about the followings:

Let's go through each point one by one.
  • JEE Mains Entrance Exam 2021 Important dates:
    • Online submission of Application Form - 16.12.2020 to 16.01.2021
    • Correction Window - 19.01.2021 to 21.01.2021
    • Last date to submit application fee - 17.01.2021
    • Downloading of Admit Cards - Second week of February, 2021
    • Date of Examinations:
      • 1st Session: 23, 24, 25 & 26 February 2021
      • 2nd Session: 15, 16, 17 & 18 March 2021
      • 3rd Session: 27, 28, 29 & 30 April 2021
      • 4th Session : 24, 25, 26, 27 & 28 May 2021 
  • Exam Pattern:
The Question Paper has been divided into two sections. There will be 90 Questions in the Paper 1 and candidate will be required to attempt 75 questions only. There will be no negative marking for 15 optional questions

Paper-wise details are as follows:

  • B.E./B.Tech. (Paper 1) - To be conducted in all four sessions: Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.
  • B. Arch. (Paper 2A)- To be conducted in February and May sessions: *Part -1 will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.
  • B. Planning (Paper 2B)- To be conducted in February and May sessions: * Part -1 will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be no negative marking for Section B.
  • Mode of Examination: JEE Mains -2021 will be conducted in the following modes:
    • Paper 1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in “Computer Based Test” mode only.
    • Paper 2A (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in “Computer Based Test” mode only and Drawing Test (Part-III) in pen & paper (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.
    • Paper 2B (B. Planning): Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II) and Planning Based Questions (Part-III) in "Computer Based Test" mode only.
  •  Admit Card:

    • The e-Admit Card would be issued to the candidates through NTA website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.
    • Candidates will have to appear in the examination at the given Centre on the date and shift/timing as indicated in the e-Admit Card.
    • In case you have any issue while downloading the Admit Card from the website, candidate can approach the NTA Help Line Number: 0120-6895200 between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.
  • Age Limit: There is no age limit for the candidates to appear in the JEE (Main) 2021. The candidates who have passed the class 12 / equivalent examination in 2019, 2020, or appearing in 2021 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main)- 2021 examination.
  • Advantages of New Pattern in JEE (Main) - 2021: 
    • This will give multiple opportunities to the candidates to improve their scores in the examination if they fail to give their best in one attempt.
    • In first attempt, the students will get a firsthand experience of taking an examination and will know their mistakes which they can improve while attempting for the next time.
    • This will reduce the chances of dropping a year and droppers would not have to waste a full year.
    • If anyone missed the examination due to reasons beyond control (such as Board examination), then he/she will not have to wait for one full year. e. A candidate need not appear in all the four Sessions.
    • If candidate appears in more than one Session then his/her best of the 2021 NTA Scores will be considered for preparation of Merit List/ Ranking.
  • Advisory by NTA amid COVID-19 Pandemic: Candidates are advised to carry only the following with them into the examination venue:
    • Admit card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
    •  A simple transparent Ball Point Pen.
    • Additional photograph, to be pasted on attendance sheet
    • Personal hand sanitizer (50 ml).
    • Personal transparent water bottle.
    • Sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic.
