CHANGE OF DEGREES: COMPARATIVE INTO POSITIVE

Rule-1: Than any other/all other এর পরের অংশ + Comparative Degree-কে Positive Degreeতে রুপান্তরের Structure: 

No other + any other/all other+ verb + so/ as + comparative degreeএর positive form+as+ প্রদত্ত sentenceএর Subject.

Examples:

Comparative: Jerry is greater than any other boy in the orphanage,

Positive: No other+ boy in the orphanage+ so/ as + great +as + Jerry.

Comparative: Dhaka is larger than all other cities in Bangladesh

Positive: No other city in Bangladesh + is + so/ as + large +as+ Dhaka. 

Comparative: Sazzad is taller than any other boy in the college. 

Positive: No other boy in the college is so as tall as Sazzad.

Rule-2: Than যুক্ত Comparative degree-কে positive degree তে রূপান্তরের সময় নিম্নের নিয়মটি প্রয়োগ করতে হয় : 

Structure:- than + verb + not + so/as + Comparative positive form + as + প্রদত্ত Sentence এর প্রথম subject.

Examples:

Comparative: Jamil is wiser than Hasan.

Positive: Hasan is not so/as wise as Jamil.

Comparative: He is stronger than I.

Positive: I am not so/as strong as he.

Comparative: A plane flies faster than a bird.

Positive: A bird does not fly sofas fast as a plane.

Comparative: Tomatoes are cheaper than oranges.

Positive: Oranges are not so/as cheap as tomatoes.

Comparative: Tipu is not more intelligent than Dipu. 

Positive: Dipu is as intelligent as Tipu.

Rule-3: than most other than few other Comparative Degree কে Positive Degree-তে রূপাত্তর করার নিয়ম :

Structure very few + most other/ few other এর পরের অংশ + verb এর plural form + so/ as + Comparativeএর positive form + as + প্রদত্ত sentence এর subject.

Examples:

Comparative: The cow is more useful than most other animals.

Positive: Very few animals are so/ as useful as the cow.

Comparative: A. K. Fazlul Haque was greater than most other politicians in Bangladesh. 

Positive: Very few politicians in Bangladesh were so as great as A.K. Fazlul Haque.

Rule-4: no less/ not Less— than যুক্ত Comparative Degree কে Positive Degree তে রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম : 

no lees বা not less এর পরিবর্তে উক্ত জায়গায় as বসে এবং than এর পরিবর্তে উক্ত জায়গায় as বসে, এ ছাড়া প্রদত্ত sentenceটির আর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না।

Examples:

Comparative: He is no less strong than you

Positive: He is as strong as you.

Comparative: Jim and Delia were not less wise than the Magi. 

Positive: Jim and Delia were as wise as the magi.

Comparative: Nipa is no less clever than Deeba.

Positive: Nipa is as clever as Deeba.

শুধুমাত্র less—than থাকলে সেক্ষেত্রে less এর পরিবর্তে উক্ত জায়গায় not as এবং than এর পরিবর্তে উক্ত জায়গায় as বসে-এছাড়া প্রদত্ত sentence এর আর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না। 

যেমন:

Comparative: He is less stupid than his brother.

Positive: He is not as stupid as his brother.

Rule-5: No sooner had.. than যুক্ত Comparative কে Positive করার নিয়ম :

No sooner had এর পরিবর্তে As soon as + subject + verb এর past form + than এর পূর্বের অংশ + than এর পরিবর্তে কমা বসে + বাকি অংশ। 

যেমন : 

Comparative: No sooner had he seen me than he ran away. 

Positive: As soon as he saw me, he ran away.
