COMPOUND TO SIMPLE

Rule-1: And যুক্ত Cmpound Sentence-এর উভয় অংশের Subject যদি এক হয় এবং উভয় অংশে মূল Verb থাকলে নিচের নিয়মটি প্রয়োগ করতে হয় : প্রথমে প্রথম বাক্যের মূল Verb এর Present form এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয় + প্রথম বাক্যের মূল Verb এর পরের অংশ বসে + and এর পরিবর্তে Comma (,) বসে + প্রথম বাক্যের কর্তা বসে (দ্বিতীয় বাক্যে কর্তা থাকলে উঠে যায়) + দ্বিতীয় বাক্যের বাকি অংশ বসে ৷

Compound: The old man killed the bird and brought bad luck to the crew. 

Simple: Killing the bird, the old man brought bad luck to the crew.

Compound: Delia sold her hair and bought a platinum fob chain.

Simple: Selling her hair, Delia bought platinum fob chain.

Compound: Jerry took care of pat and got a dollar.  

Simple: Taking care of pat, Jerry got a dollar. 

Compound: I forgot him and went outside the cabin.

Simple: Forgetting him, I went outside the cabin. Or, Having forgotten him, I went outside the cabin. 

Compound: He went abroad and left his car with me. 

Simple: Leaving his car with me, he went abroad.

Rule-2: And এর উভয় বাক্যের Subject ভিন্ন হলে এবং প্রথম Sentence-এ am/is/are/was/ were had থাকলে নিচের নিয়মটি প্রয়োগ করতে হয় : / has/have/ প্রথম বাক্যের am/is/are/was/ were- এর পরিবর্তে being বসে বা has/have/had-এর পরিবর্তে having বসে, এছাড়া প্রথম বাক্যের আর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না + and এর পরিবর্তে comma (,) বসে + দ্বিতীয় বাক্য বসে।

Compound: The marriage ceremony was over and the guests were all going to the feast.

Simple: The marriage ceremony being over, the guests were all going to the feast. 

Compound: The weather was very cold and there were no birds or animals. 

Simple: The weather being very cold, there were no birds or animals.

Compound: The sun had set and we returned home.

Simple: The sun having set, we returned home.

Rule-3: Or যুক্ত Compound Sentence কে Simple করার নিয়ম :

প্রথমে Without বসে + প্রথম বাক্যের মূল verb এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয় + ক্রিয়ার পরের অংশ বসে + or এর পরিবর্তে comma (,) বসে + দ্বিতীয় বাক্য বসে।

Compound: Work hard or you will not prosper in life.

Simple: Without working hard, you will not prosper in life.

Compound: Read attentively or you cannot pass the examination.

Simple: Without reading attentively, you can not pass the examination.

Rule-4: And এর উভয় অংশের Subject এক হলে এবং | প্রথম Sentence দ্বারা যখন কারণ বুঝায় তখন নীচের নিয়মটি প্রয়োগ করতে হয় : প্রথমে Because of বসে + প্রথম Sentence এর Subject এর possessive form বসে + am/is/are/was/ were এর পরিবর্তে being বসে বা has / have/ had এর পরিবর্তে having বসে বা মুল ক্রিয়ার সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয় + প্রথম Sentence এর বাকি অংশ বসে + and এর পরিবর্তে Comma (,) বসে + দ্বিতীয় Sentence টি বসে।

Compound: He is ill and he can not move an inch. 

Simple: Because of his being ill, he can not move an inch.

Compound: He has much money and he can buy a car.

Simple: Because of his having much money, he can buy a car.

Rule-5: But যুক্ত Compound sentence Simple Sentence এ পরিণত করার নিয়ম :

প্রথমে In spite of বসে + প্রথম Sentence এর Subject এর Possesive form বসেছে + প্রথম Sentence এর am/is/ are/was/were being has/have/ had এর পরিবর্তে having বসে বা প্রথম বাক্যের মূল verb এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয় + but এর পরিবর্তে comma (,) বসে + দ্বিতীয় Sentence টি বসে।

Compound: He is ill but he can run fast.

Simple: In spite of his being ill, he can run fast.

Compound: I ran fast but I could not get the train. 

Simple: In spite of my running fast, I could not get the train.

Compound: He was rich but/ yet unhappy. 

Simple: In spite of his being rich, he was unhappy.

Rule-6: Not only ........... but also compound

Sentence কে Simple করার নিয়ম :

প্রথমে Besides বসে + not only যুক্ত অংশের মূল verb এর সাথে ing + উক্ত ক্রিয়ার পরের অংশ + মূল Subject + but also অংশের ক্রিয়া থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত ।

Compound: The lady guest not only ate but also drank coffee.

Simple: Besides eating caviare, the lady drank coffee
