★ English vocabulary ★

(1) Ability - छमता, योग्यता  -  [capacity, skill]

Pooja has acquired the ability to speak English.

Ex. पूजा ने अंग्रेजी बोलने की छमता हांसिल करली है।

He has the ability to handle my business.

Ex. उसमे मेरा बिजनिस सम्हालने की छमता है।

(2) Abnormal - असमान्य, अनियमीत - [unusual, Irregular]

Ex. फरवरी महीेने मे गर्म मौसम होना असमान्य है।

The warm weather in February is abnormal.

(3) Above - उपर, बढकर - [high, exceeding]

Ex. हमारा बिमान बादलो के उपर उड़ रहा था।

Our plane was flying above the clouds.

स्वास्थ्य से बढकर कोई धन नही है।

(3) Accelerate - गती बढाना, तेजी लाना - [to speed up, to expedite]

Ex. रोहीत ने कार की गति बढाई और मुझसे आगे निकल गया।

Rohit accelerated his car and overtook me.

सरकार को अपने नीजीकरण कार्यक्रम मे तेजी लाना है।

The government has to accelerate its privatisation programme.

(4) Accomplish - पुरा करना, प्राप्त करना - [achieve, fulfill]

Ex. मनिष को अपना लक्ष्य प्राप्त करने मे काेई कठिनाई नहीं हुई।

Manish did not have any difficultly to accomplish his goal.

(5) Accurate - एकदम सही।/सटीक [correct, exact]

Examples. बीबीसी ने घटना की एकदम सही रिपोर्ट दी।

The BBC gave an accurate report of the incident.

(6) Accuse - दोष देना/आरोप लगाना [to blame/to charge]

Example. उस अधिकारी पर घूस लेने का आरोप लगाया गया था।

That officer was accused of accepting bribe.

(7) Ache - दर्द/बेदना [pain, sorrowful]

Example.

क्या आपके सिर मे अभी भी दर्द है।

Does your head still ache?

नेहा को उदास देखकर मेरे दील मे वेदना होती है।

It makes my heart ache to see neha sad.

(8) Achieve - हांसिल करना/सफल होना [ to obtain/to accomplish/to gain]

Example.

हम कड़ी मेहनत के बिना कुछ भी हांसिल नही कर सक्ते।

We can't achieve anything without hard wark.

मिशन चन्द्रयान ।।  अंतिम समय में सफलता नही पा सका।

Mission chandrayan could not achieve success at the last moment.

(9) Acquire - प्राप्त करना/ अधिग्रहण करना 

Example.

अमेरिका  मे रहने वाले भारतीय बाद मेे अमेरिकीय नागरिक्ता प्राप्त कर लेते हैं।

Indians living in America later acquire American citizenship.

दादा के निधन के बाद पाेते ने उनकी जमीन का अधिग्रहण किया।

After the demise of grandfather, the grandson acquired his land.

ये मकान 2002 मे सरकार के द्वारा अपने कब्जे मे लिया गया था।

This house had been acquired by the government in 2002.

(10) Acquittal - दोष मुक्त [ liberation,release]

Example.

उस अपराधी के छुट जाने से हर कोई हैरान था।

Everyone he was shocked with that criminal's acquittal.

एक निर्दोस व्यक्ति का सजा से बच निकलना एक अच्छी खबर है।

Acquittal of an innocent person is good news.

(11) Actually - वास्तव में/दरसल [in fact]

दरसल मै उसे काल नही करना चाहता।

 Actually, I don't want to call her.

उसने वास्तव मे किया क्या?

★ What did he actually do?

(12) Acute - तीव्र/तेज [ sharp, severe]

Example.

जर्मन शेफर्ड कुत्तो मे गंध की तीव्र समझ होती है।

German Shepherd dogs have acute sense of smell.

रमेश को अचानक अपने सीने मे तेज दर्द महसूस हुआ।

Ramesh suddenly felt an acute pain in his chest.
