Hello friends!  1993 was the year when Israel and Palestine were very close to drafting a peaceful solution.  But what happened after that, the situation deteriorated to such an extent that there was a war between them today?  If we want to understand today's crisis properly, then we have to know the history first.  This is why this article of today

In Yo, let us know about the detailed history between the two countries.

How did Israel become a country?  And how did the conflict between Israel and Palestine begin?

The story begins thousands of years ago.  You must have heard how terrible Hitler treated the Jews.  But do you know that atrocities on Jews started thousands of years ago.  Jesus Christ is said to have been born into a Jewish family.  And some Christians believe that some Jews wanted to crucify Jesus.

It is a belief of an ideology that has been among Christians for many years, decades, and even centuries.  And when there was a crusade about a thousand years ago, Christians killed a large number of Jews.  At the time, many rumors were being spread against Jews that they drink the blood of Christian children, or that they use the blood for religious ceremonies.  Because of these rumors, there was widespread hatred towards the Jews.  The Jews have hardly had to tolerate any religion in the last thousand years.  This hatred of Jews after the 1800s was not only for religious reasons but also because Jews were also seen as a separate ethnicity.

For all these reasons, Jews living around the world by the late 1800s felt that no country considered them their own.  If they want to live in peace, they have to make their country.  To make a Jewish country.

Theodore Herzl was an Austro-Hungarian journalist.  He started a new political movement in his 1896 pamphlet.  Zionism.  He said that Jews should get their own country.  At that time it was not a new idea.  From the 1870s, many organizations called themselves Lovers of Zion.  They were already promoting this idea.  It is for this reason that the first large-scale exodus of Jews was seen in the Palestine region in 1881.  The Jews built many permanent settlements in the region and resided there.

Why did they choose the Palestine region?

Because it was a very sacred area for them.  Jerusalem is the holiest place for Jews.  Remember that there was no Israel, Gaza or West Bank at that time.  The entire area was Palestine.  Which was under the Osmani empire.  Under the Ottoman Empire, Christians, Muslims and Jews lived more or less peacefully together.  There were no conflicts.  One of the reasons behind this may also be that most of the land was vacant.  There were very few settlements on the land.  And the area had a very small population.  Now we are moving fast for the year 1915.

World War I started.  British, French and Arab revolutionaries were fighting the Ottoman Empire.  The British play cleverly here.  They tell Arab revolutionaries that they will give them Palestine territory in return for their support in defeating the Ottoman Empire.  And Arab revolutionaries were fighting to create a unified Arab country.  Arab revolutionaries wanted an Arab country in Syria from Yemen.  The British also made the same promise to the Jews.  That they would help them build their Jewish country near Palestine.  Why do they do this?  So that they can please the American Jews.

And can gain influence over American politics.  But in fact the British made a secret agreement with the French.  As soon as the Ottoman Empire collapsed after World War I, Britain and France divided the Middle East region.  The Palestinian territory was occupied by the British.  1914-1979 The entire Palestine region was under the control of the British Government.  Hitler gets political power in Germany at this time.  And Jews are massacred in millions.

Why did Hitler get political power?

Jews flee from Hitler-controlled Europe to different countries to protect themselves.  Some find refuge in America.  But many of these Jews go to Palestine.  Britain initially allowed him to enter Palestine.  But later they stop him from coming to Palestine.  This leads to an Israeli nationalist movement in Palestine.  At the same time around 1940, the Palestine nationalist movement also started.  And the Palestinians were also demanding their country.  In 1948, the British government realized that enough was enough.  And that they cannot stay there for long.

They left the Jews and made the Jewish country and the Palestinians made their country.  He admitted that he could not do so and entrusted the responsibility to the United Nations.  After this, the British leave Palestine.  The United Nations comes with a partition plan.  Regarding the Jewish country and the area to be allocated to create a Palestinian country.  In 1947, the United Nations partition plan was released.  In the plan, the United Nations holds 57% of the territory for the Jewish country and 43% of the territory for the Arab-Palestinian country.

Jerusalem is historically a very important region for Jews, Christians and Muslims for the three religions.  The United Nations therefore decided that Jerusalem would be under international control.  The Jews accept this plan and name their new country Israel.  Here, the country of Israel was born in 1948.  But unfortunately, other neighboring Arab countries were not at all happy with the plan.  He believed that this plan was basically the British way of continuing their colonialism.  So they start a war against Israel.  Saying that they would not allow the Jews to take any part of the land.  This war has been named the first Arab-Israeli war of 1948.  And this in itself is a very historical war.  More than 5 countries were fighting against a small new country.  The Jews living in Israel knew that five years ago they had seen how the rest of the world treated them.  How Hitler treated them.

And then all the Arab countries were starting a war against them.  If they did not fight to survive, they could never survive.  So to protect themselves, they made war with everything they had.  And amazingly, Israel won the war.  After defeating all these countries.  After the war ended in 1949, many of the territories that were considered Palestine according to the UN Partition Plan were occupied by Israel.  The Gaza Strip area moved to Egypt.  And the area of the western coast went to the Jordan.  This means that the Palestinians no longer have a country.  More than 700,000 Palestinians had to leave their homes and become refugees in Arab countries.  It has been named the 1948 Palestinian Exodus.

This is followed by the Second Arab-Israeli War in 1967.  This war lasts for six days.  And Israel also wins it easily.  The Gaza Strip and the West Bank region are not only under Israeli occupation, but after this war this large peninsula of Egypt is also under Israeli occupation.  Palestinians want their country.  This led to the establishment of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1964.  Initially, their objective is through armed conflict.  Use weapons to gain your country.  In the beginning, they also wanted Israel to cease to exist.  That is why the United States and Israel declare it a terrorist organization.  But one thing needs to be remembered that if you look at them from one person's point of view, they will look like a terrorist organization and from another's point of view, they are revolutionaries who want the independence of their country.  In 1973, the Third Arab-Israeli War begins, but it is not very important to our story, because after that, nothing much changes.  But in 1974, the PLO became officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly.

To be representative of the Palestinian people.  In 1979, peace talks between Egypt and Israel were successful and Egypt became the first Arab country to recognize Israel as the country there.  After peace talks, the entire Egyptian peninsula region occupied by Israel is returned to Egypt by Israel.  The Prime Ministers of both Egypt and Israel have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for this successful peace treaty.  But unfortunately, two years later, the Egyptian Prime Minister is assassinated.  By right-wing extremists in Egypt.  The fundamentalists questioned the Prime Minister's treaty with Israel.  They wanted to kill him because he had reached a compromise.  And so he was murdered.  From 1967 to the 1980s, Israel had more than 10 years of occupation of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.  During this period, many Israelis begin to establish their colonies in the West Bank.  They start building settlements and live there permanently.  The Israeli government supported him directly or indirectly.  And the prices of houses there were low.  Some go there for cheap accommodation and some for their religious nationalism.  Some staunch Israelis claim that the entire West Bank region belongs to them.

And so they will reside there.  And so Israeli settlements begin to emerge in the West Bank region.  The international community considers these settlements illegal because these settlements go against the United Nations partition plan.  And Palestinians see them as colonies.  Originally, their country is being colonized by the Israelis.  In 1992, Israel received an amazing Prime Minister.  His name was Yitzhak Rabin.  He said that PLO is not a terrorist organization.  They only want their country and the Israelis should let them do it.  Israel officially recognized the PLO.  And in return, the PLO officially recognized Israel as a country.  And here are the 1993 Oslo Accords.  For the first time, the two come together and talk.  About how the country can be divided correctly and peacefully.  About how a Palestinian country can be created.  As a result, in 1994, the Palestinian government was established for the first time.  It has been named the Palestinian National Authority.  But by this time, Israel had already established permanent settlements in many West Bank regions.  Who had the support of the Israeli government.

The Palestinians were living in pieces in some areas.  It was then decided to divide the West Bank region into three parts.  Areas A, B and C.

Region A would be where the Palestinian government would be under control.  In Area B, both governments will control.  And Area C will be the areas where the Israeli government maintains control.

Leave aside the UN partition plan, in fact, in 1994, Palestine received only a few pieces and pieces in the West Bank region and the Gaza Strip to make it their country.  But the good news is that at that time Israel and Palestine were very close to coming up with a peaceful solution.  For this reason, in 1994, the president of the Palestinian Authority - Yasser Arafat and the Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.  But unfortunately after this the whole situation collapses.  When the extremist Jewish people assassinate their prime minister.  Just as Godse killed Gandhiji.  Because Gandhiji spoke of unity between Hindus and Muslims.

In 1995, a Jewish extremist shot the Israeli Prime Minister three times with a pistol.  These staunch Jewish people questioned the agreement with Palestine.  About why they were given some land.  They wanted the whole of Palestine to be of Israel.  And because of these fanatics, the situation worsened.  Some 5-6 years before this incident, some Islamic fundamentalists in Palestine came together to form the Hamas group.  The Hamas group claims that the PLO is becoming too secular.

And made a great deal with Israel.  But in reality they want to erase Israel with maps.  So the fundamentalists formed a new organization to fight for the annihilation of Israel.  And here the Hamas group is formed.  Apparently when a peace treaty is signed between Palestine and Israel around 1994, Jewish fundamentalists start hating their prime minister and on the other hand, the Hamas group begins to hate the PLO.  All because they made a pact with Israel.  The Hamas group not only boycott the Palestinian elections of 1979, but they also carry out suicide bombings in Israel.  Because of this, the dominance of the right-wing groups from both sides starts increasing.  Polarization is increasing.  People on both sides, Israelis and Palestinians hate each other.  There was some hatred already and after 1995 it has been increasing.  Around 2002, both sides witnessed violent protests.  More than 100 Israelis and Palestinians were killed on the other side of the border.  There are skirmishes on the ground and people are so skeptical towards each other that Israel starts building walls around their settlements.

 Security guards are stationed around the permanent houses built by the Israelis in the West Bank and posts are placed.  And it is becoming increasingly difficult for Palestinians to live there.  In 2006, the Hamas terrorist group walks in and wins the Palestinian election.  It defeats the PLO party, Fatah, but by a very small margin.  It has won 74 seats out of 132.  But in 2007, there is a civil war between these two sides in Palestine.

Based on Israel and Palestine.  Some people say that the partition should be based on the partition plan of 1947. There are proper societies with houses and schools and hospitals and wide streets. Hundreds of thousands of people live in the settlements of the West Bank.

Write in the comment below.
