         Article ( आर्टिकल ) : 'A', 'An' and 'The'

A, An और The को ही English Grammar में Article कहा जाता है।

Article दो प्रकार के होते हैं–

1. Definite Article – The.

2. Indefinite Article – A, An.

Indefinite Article ( इंडेफिनिट आर्टिकल ) :–             

 English grammar में दो प्रकार के indefinite Articles होता है – A  और An. 

                         Use of 'A' and 'An'

1. Singular countable noun के साथ a का प्रयोग किया जाता है –

I am a boy.

You are a girl.


2. जिस vowel का उच्चारण  को Consonant की तरह हो  उसमे भी a का प्रयोग होता है।

 जैसे – This is a useful book.

           Vector is  a European.


3. जिस शब्द का उच्चारण Vowel की तरह ( अ, आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ए, ऐ, ओ, औ ) हो  उसमें ‘an’ का  प्रयोग किया जाता है। चाहें वह Vowel ( a, e, i, o, u) या Consonant हों। 

जैसे – I am an honest man.

         Who is an S.D.O.

         My father is an M.P.

         I have an egg.

Definite Article ( डेफिनाइट आर्टिकल )  –

Definite Article  का use हम तब करते जब हम  किसी स्पेसिफिक ( specific ) चीज के बारे में बात करते हैं।             जैसे – The Ganga. 

The का  use हम singular, plural और uncountable nouns के saath कर सकते हैं।

                               Use of The

1. धार्मिक ग्रंथों के नाम के पहले लगता है । जैसे – The Gita, The Quran, The Bible.

2.  समाचार पत्रों तथा पत्रिकाओं के नाम के पहले । जैसे – The India Nation, The Times of India, The illustrated Weekly of India.

3. राजनीतिक दल के नाम के पहले The लगाते हैं । जैसे – The Congress Party, The Janta party

4. जो वस्तु दुनिया में एक हो उसके पहले The लगाते हैं । जैसे – The Earth, The Moon, The East.

5. नदी, नहर, महासमुद्र, समुद्र, खाड़ी के नाम के पहले The  use किया जाता है। जैसे– The Atlantic Ocean, The Bay of Bengal, The Ganga, The Suez Canal.

6.जब Proper Noun को कोई Adjective qualified  करे तो उसके पहले The use  किया जाता है।  जैसे – The beautiful Radha, The immortal Shakespeare.

7. प्रसिद्ध इमारतों के पहले The use करते हैं। जैसे – The Tajmahal, The Red Fort, The White House.

8. Armed forces के पहले The use करते हैं। जैसे – The Navy, The Air force.

9. धार्मिक समुदाय के पहले The use करते हैं। जैसे – The Hindu, The Sikh.

10. रेलगाड़ी, हवाई जहाज, के नाम के पहले The use करते हैं। जैसे – The Makalu, The Toofan Mail, The Vikrant.
