IT raids offices of Dainik Bhaskar in alleged tax evasion case

After being accused of tax evasion, the Income Tax Department on Thursday, raided offices of media group Dainik Bhaskar and an Uttar Pradesh-based news channel.

Around 100 taxmen searched around 30 locations of Dainik Bhaskar in Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Homes and offices of group promoters were also raided.

There was some who didn't took the raid likely. Trinamool Congress Supremo and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee called this raid as "another brutal attempt to stifle democracy."

Whereas Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot called it " a brazen attempt to suppress the voice of the media".
