Number ( नंबर ) - singular and plural number, Number in hindi

                          Number – वचन

जिस शब्द से संख्या का बोध हो उसे  Number ( वचन ) कहते हैं।

 Number दो प्रकार के होते हैं –

Singular number ( एकवचन ) – जिस शब्द से एक का बोध हो उसे Singular number कहते हैं । 

example – boy, man, dog etc.

Plural number ( बहुवचन ) – जिस शब्द से एक से अधिक का बोध हो उसे plural number कहते हैं ।

At a time that shows more than one is said to be in the chloral numbers.

 example – boys, men, dogs etc.

s या es कब लगाते हैं ( singular से pulral बनाने के नियम )

1. जिस शब्द के अंत में s,ss,sh,ch,x रहता है तो उसमे ‘es’ जोड़कर singular से plural बनाते हैं ।

Example–

    Singular                         plural

     Bus                                  Buses

     Class                               Classes

      Box                                 Boxes

      Lunch                           Lunches

2. जिस शब्द के अंत में  ‘o’ रहता है तो उसमे ‘s’ लगा कर plural बनाते हैं।

Example–

     Singular                         plural

      Auto                                 Autos

      Photo                               Photos

       Kangaroo                       Kangaroos

       Memo                             Memos

 इसके कुछ अपवाद है–

     Singular                              plural

      Potato                                 potatoes

      Tomato                               Tomatoes

       Baffalo                               Baffaloes

 3.  जिस शब्द के अंत में ‘y’ रहे और उसके पहले consonant रहे तो ‘y’ को ‘i’ में बदलकर ‘es’ जोड़कर plural  बनाया जाता है Exapmle –

      Singular                          plural

      Baby                                 Babies

      Lily ( फूल )                        Lilies

       Family                            Familes

       City                                 Cities

         

4. जिस शब्द के अंत में ‘y’ रहे और उसके पहले Vowel रहे तो ‘s’ लगाकर Plural बनाते हैं।

Example –

     Singular                         plural

      Monkey                         Monkeys

      Boy                                  Boys

       Toy                                 Toys

       Day                                 Days

5. जिस शब्द के अंत में ‘ch’ रहे और उसका उच्चारण ‘का’ हो तो केवल ‘s’ जोड़कर plural बनाया जाता है।

Example -

      Singular                         plural

       Stomach                        Stomachs

        Monarch                       Monarchs

6. जिस शब्द के अंत में ‘ch’ रहे और उसका उच्चारण ‘च’ हो तो  ‘es’ जोड़कर plural बनाया जाता है।

Example -

      Singular                         plural

       Torch                            Torches

        Watch                          Watches

        Batch                            Batches

7. इस शब्द के अंत में ‘f’ या ‘fe’ रहे तो ‘f’ याा  ‘fe’ को ‘v’ में बदलकर ‘es’ जोड़कर  plural बनाया जाता है।

Example –

     Singular                         plural

      Knife                               Knives

      Loaf                                 Loaves

       Life                                 Lives

       Wolf                                Wolves

इसके कुछ अपवाद है–

     Singular                              plural

      Hoof                                   Hoofs

      Giraffe                               Giraffes

       Cafe                                   Cafes

       Roof                                   Roofs

      Chef                                    Chefs

       Proof                                  Proofs

8. कुछ शब्द ऐसे होते हैं जिन्हें हम singular से plural बनाते हैं तो ये शब्द ही change हो जाते है इसे दुसरे सब में हम कह सकते है की  शब्दो के बीच से vowel को बदल कर plural बनाते हैं।

Example –

     Singular                         plural

      Man                               men

      Woman                         Women

       Foot                               Feet

       Tooth                             Teeth

9. कुछ शब्द ऐसे होते हैं जिसमें ‘en’ या ‘ren’ जोड़कर plural बनाया जाता है।

Example –

     Singular                         plural

      Ox                                  Oxen

      Child                              Children

10.   कुछ शब्द ऐसे होते हैं जो बदलता नहीं है वह same रहता हैं

Example –

     Singular                         plural

      Sheep                             Sheep

      Swine                             Swine

       Bison                             Bison

       Series                            Series
