(a). जिस Tense se  सामान्य रूप में बीते हुए समय का बोध हो उसे Past indefinite tense (पास्ट इंडेफिनिते टेंस) कहते हैं|

(b).  हिंदी वाक्य की पहचान –  मुख्य क्रिया में आकारांत, इकारांत, एकारांत लगे रहते हैं । जैसे–  मैं पत्र लिखा । उसने किताब पढ़ी।

(c) अंग्रेजी बनाने का नियम – पहले कर्ता (object)  की अंग्रेजी लिख । कर तब मुख्य क्रिया का दूसरा रूप ( PV² ) की अंग्रेजी लिख दी जाती हैं । कर्म रहने पर अंत में उसकी अंग्रेजी लिख दी जाती है।

                      S + PV² + O

मैं पत्र लिखा।                I wrote a letter.

 उसने  किताब पढ़ी।        He/She read a book.


Negative   वाक्य रहने पर अंग्रेजी बनाने का नियम–

            S + did + not + PV¹ +O. 

मैंने पत्र नहीं लिखा।       I did not write a letter.

उसने किताब नहीं पढ़ी।   He/she did not read a book.


Past indefinite tense ( पास्ट इंडेफिनिते टेंस ) में नहीं रहने पर ‘नहीं ’ की जगह ‘did not’ तथा मुख्य क्रिया का प्रथम रूप ( PV¹ ) का प्रयोग करते हैं |

Introgative  वाक्य रहने पर अंग्रेजी बनाने का नियम –

            Did  + S + not + PV¹ +O + ?

क्या मैं पत्र नहीं लिखा ?   Did I not write a letter ?

क्या उसने किताब नहीं पढ़ी ? Did he/she not read a book ?
