Is YouTube Killing the revenue of Publishers with Cameroon-based Audience?
It's been a while now that there have been some major changes with YouTube Cameroon. At first, this issue didn't really pick my interest until one day. A friend of mine had a YouTube Channel that was already monetised by I kept wondering why I couldn't see any ads displayed even when watching his top most-watch videos.
When I asked him about it, he said Maybe the video I was watching wasn't being monetised. Well, I gave up. But I gradually started noticing the same issue with other Channels. Even the top Anime recommendation channel I follow and will usually watch their videos.
At first, ads will pop up regularly even more than 3 - 5 times depending on the length of the video. But nothing showed up. No ads too on the sidebar or where soever.
What is happening then? There is no info online indicating that YouTube has stopped displaying ads for Cameroon-based users or are restricting ads display for some countries.
The question I could ask is if YouTube is Killing the revenue of Publishers with Cameroon-based Audience. This issue wasn't with my computer. After speaking with many colleagues, they to said "Oh! now that you are mentioning, we have not been seeing any ads on YouTube for a while now"
We know YouTube Cameroon isn't eligible for monetisation but users usually change their location in order to get eligible. And this had nothing to do with ads not showing up for users who are visiting YouTube from Cameroon.
To confirm this issue wasn't global, We switched to a VPN and ooppss! Ads were showing without issues.
