1. Laurent Blanc: He became a retired player in the year 2003 after spending the final two years of his playing career at Manchester United.

Laurent Blanc who is currently 55 year old is currently in charge of Qatari outfit Al-Rayyan.

After spending two years of playing football at Old Trafford, he retired in the year 2003. Laurent Blanc has been in charge of Qatari outfit Al-Rayyan since December 2020.

Laurent Blanc was a manager at Paris Saint-Germain between 2013 and 2016 and was in charge of the French senior national team between 2010 and 2012.

Laurent Blanc has won 15 major honours as a manager, including four Ligue 1 titles across his spells in charge of both Bordeaux and PSG.

2. Roy Keane: If the United board feels that a kick up the backside is what United's players are in need of, Keane would be the man.

The former Reds skipper is not afraid to speak the truth and say it how it is. How the players would respond to that would be interesting, to say the least.

However, the chances of Keane succeeding Solskjaer, despite having some managerial experience behind him from his spells in charge of Ipswich Town and Sunderland, are very, very, very slim.

3. Darren Fletcher:

Darren Fletcher currently works at Old Trafford as the club's technical director and seems to be a better preference than Keane.

Darren Fletcher worked with the players on the training ground during his time in the role, but he doesn't has management experience. But may be able to lead is that, though, a gamble United would be willing to take at this stage? Most probably not.

Nevertheless, the Scot may be considered as a realistic candidate to succeed Solskjaer, at least on a temporary basis, and offer fresh ideas.
