Assertive Sentence (Affirmative + Negative) में वाक्यों को जोरदार (Emphatical) बनाने के लिए उसके अन्त में जोड़ा गया प्रश्न पुच्छिल ही question tag कहलाता है ।

 Question tag को Question tail/Reply question भी कहा जाता है। आज के इस आधुनिक युग के बदलते परिवेश में Question tag का प्रयोग बातों के आदान-प्रदान (Conversation) में बहुत किया जा रहा है। 

Note :- Question  Sentence का Question tag नहीं बनता है ।

Question tag बनाने के खास तरीके–

(1) यदि मूल (original) वाक्य Positive रहे तो Question tag Negative होता है। 

(2) यदि मूल (original) वाक्य Negative में रहे तो Question tag Positive होता है।

(3) (Question tag जोड़ने के लिए मूल वाक्य के अन्त में Comma (.) का प्रयोग किया हैं।

(4) Question tag small letter से शुरू किया जाता है ।

(5) अंत में प्रश्नवाचक चिन्ह (?) का प्रयोग किया जाता है ।


Question tag के प्रकार–

(1) यदि वाक्य में सहायक क्रिया (Auxiliary verb) न होकर सिर्फ मुख्य क्रिया (Principal verb) जैसे- Laugh, Read, Run, etc. रहे तो Question tag में tense के अनुसार do/don't/does/doesn't/did/didn't का प्रयोग किया जाता है। जैसे- He cats guava, doesn't he ?

You went, didn't you? Sita did not eat, did she ?

(ii) यदि वाक्य में सहायक क्रिया जैसे Is are am, has, have, will, can, shall, had, was etc. रहे तो Question tag में उसी सहायक क्रिया का प्रयोग किया जाता है। जैसे- Ram was playing, wasn't he ?


Note:- Positive  Sentence में I am रहने पर Question tag aren't होता है|negative   Sentence में 'am' ही होता है। जैसे-I am going, aren't I? Iam not going, am I?

(iv) वाक्य Imperative में हो तो Question tag will/won't किसी से भी शुरू हो सकता है। जैसे- Come here, will/won't you ?


(v) वाक्य Imperative के Negative में हो तो Question tag सिर्फ will से शुरू होता है। Don't eat. will you ?

Question tag का Subject निम्नलिखित ढंग से किया जाता है

(iii) Naresh and Deepak.               They

(iv) Sita and Rita.                            They
