Four schools representing Kalimpong to State level Science Congress


KalimNews, Kalimpong, 9 January 2022 : Four out of 13 projects presented during the District-level children’s science congress held online have been selected for the State level Congress of the 29th National Children’s Science Congress.
The state-level event is scheduled to be held online on 13th January and the national level will be held on 1-5 February. 
The National Children’s Science Congress on ‘Science for Sustainable Living’ was held online on 5th and 6th January 2022.
The following children will represent the Kalimpong district at the State level congress: Mingma Dekhi Sherpa of Lava HS School, Deepshika Khanal of St. George’s HS S, Nima Rinchen Gurung of SUM Institution and Mrinal Lepcha of Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir.
Pupils from different areas of Kalimpong district participated in the presentation organised as part of the science congress and displayed their innovative ideas.

Students of Chisang High School, Gitdabling HSS, Lolay Sampu HSS, Chandramaya HSS, Shankar HSS, Algarah HSS, St. George’s HSS, Indo Tibetan HSS, Lava HSS, SUM Institution and Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir took  part in such events to showcase their talent. Participation was more important than winning, A.K.Rai Kalimpong District Coordinator said.
Science Communicators Forum, the state organizing committee stated that exhorting the students to sharpen their skills in order to brighten the future of the nation, The Kalimpong district committee has congratulated the participants for displaying their innovative ideas.
In the district and the state the event was organised jointly by the School Education Department, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of West Bengal, D.I.of Schools (S.E.), Kalimpong and Kalimpong District Committee of the NCSC. In the national level it will be organized by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of Government of India. 
These participating children are designated as child scientists by the department of NCSTC and DST.
