Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest man of his time.

महात्मा गांधी अपने समय के सबसे महान पुरुष थे ।उनका जन्म 2 अक्टूबर 1869 ई० पोरबंदर के गुजरात में हुआ था । उनके पिता एक रियासत के मंत्री थे और उनकी माता एक आदर्श स्त्री थी । भारत में शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के पश्चात वकालत पढ़ने इंग्लैंड गये । वहां से बैरिस्टर बन कर वापस आने के बाद उन्होंने आरंभ में दक्षिण अफ्रीका में वकालत प्रारंभ की परंतु शीघ्र ही वहां रहने वाले भारतीयों की दीन दशा सुधारने के लिए उन्होंने सत्याग्रह आंदोलन प्रारंभ किया । गांधी - स्मटस समझौता हो जाने पर वे वहां से भारत लौट आये । भारत की स्वतंत्रता प्राप्ति के लिए उन्होंने सत्य और अहिंसा को सर्वोत्तम हथियार माना । उन्होंने और सहयोग तथा सत्याग्रह आंदोलन प्रारंभ किये ।अंत में सत्य और अहिंसा की विजय हुई और  ब्रिटिश समाज को हार स्वीकार करनी पड़ी । भारत 1947 में स्वतंत्र हो गया।

   English Translation 

Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest man of his time. He was born at Porbandar in Gujarat on October 2,1869. His father was the the Diwan of a state and his mother was an ideal woman. After receiving education in India , he went to England to study law. After coming back from there as a barrister, in the beginning , he started his practice in South Africa. But soon he started Satyagraha Movement to improve the pitiable condition of the Indian settlers there. After finalizing Gandhi - Smuts pact came back to India. He considered truth and non- violence as the best weapons for achieving freedom of India. He started non-co-operation and Satyagraha Movements. At  last , truth and non - violence where Victorious and the British Empire had to admit defeat. India become free in 1947.
