We can simply use str_word_count() Function to count number of words in a string using PHP.

str_word_count() Function is a built-in PHP function which counts the number of words in a string.

$wordsCount = str_word_count($string);
echo $wordsCount;
?>

$wordsCount variable contains the number or count of words in the original string.
