Hundred vs Hundreds

Hundred vs Hundreds: 

কোন সুনির্দিষ্ট সংখ্যার পরে hundred শব্দটির সব সময়ই singular form ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন,

We invited one hundred guests.

Five hundred people were present there.

কিন্তু Hundred-এর সংখ্যা সুনির্দিষ্ট না হলে সেখানে hundreds ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন,

Several hundreds of people assembled there.

Hundreds of people were killed in that battle.

Thousand, lakh, crore, million, billion ইত্যাদির ক্ষেত্রেও একই নিয়ম প্রযোজ্য। যেমন,

He lent me ten thousand taka/takas. 

This car will cost several thousands of dollars.

লক্ষণীয় যে, একাধিক ডলার বুঝাতে সব সময় dollars ব্যবহৃত হয় কিন্তু একাধিক টাকা বুঝাতে আমরা taka কিংবা takas বলতে পারি।
