ইংরেজী grammar-এর একটা general rule হচ্ছে এই যে যেখানেই preposition থাকবে সেখানেই তার পরে একটা noun (অথবা anything equivalent to a noun) থাকতেই হবে। যেমন,

This man comes from England.

I had a talk with him.

অথবা

From where does this man come?

With whom did you have a talk?

কিন্তু informal ইংরেজীতে বাক্যের initial preposition-টি বাক্যের শেষে চলে যেতে পারে। যেমন,

Where does this man come from?

Who did you have a talk with? 

[Who হচ্ছে whom- informal form]

তবে এমনটা বলা ঠিক নয় যে-

Where from does this man come? 

Whom with did you have a talk?
