Relative Pronouns (Misplaced Words)

Who, which, that ধরনের যে Pronoun এর সাহায্যে একটি relative clause-কে বাক্যের অবশিষ্ট অংশের সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত করা হয় তাকেই relative pronoun বলা হয়। যে noun কে refer করার জন্য relative pronoun ব্যবহৃত হবে সেই noun টির অবস্থান হবে আগে এবং relative pronounটির অবস্থান হবে পরে। এবং এই noun এবং relative pronoun এর অবস্থান পাশাপাশি বা কাছাকাছি হওয়া বাঞ্ছনীয়। যেমন,

Right: I know the man who came here.

Wrong: The man is known to me who came here.

দ্বিতীয় বাক্যের who কোন noun কে refer করছে তা পরিষ্কার নয়।

Right: They punished the thief who stole the bicycle.

Wrong: The thief was punished by them who stole the bicycle.

Right: The thief who stole the bicycle was punished by them.
