Why are antibiotics not effective for viral diseases?

Question: Why are antibiotics not effective for viral diseases?

Viruses are surrounded by a protective protein coating they do not have cell walls that can be attacked by antibiotics like bacteria does. In viral infections, viruses use host cells to perform their activities. So they cannot kill viruses. That is the reason antibiotics are not effective for viral diseases.
