Higher Secondary English Evaluation Methods
To know the progress of study, assessments are done through two types of evaluation – Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CE) and Term Evaluation (TE).
Higher Secondary English Course Book
English Course Book consists of 6 units. Each unit comprises number of chapters like prose, poem, play etc. and they are topically linked also.
Activities on focus - Read and comprehend stories, speeches, profiles, personal essays, writing reviews, prepare interview questions and using cohesive devices and conditionals effectively.
Activities on Focus – Note making, speech, drafting letters, character sketches, using concord appropriately, literary elements etc:-
Activities on Focus- Drafting the script of live TV report, designing travel brochure, travel essay and info, write ups, narrating events from different points of view, performing debates etc.
Activities on Focus –note making, précis writing, report writing, letter writing, critical appreciation, use of language elements like participles, adverbs, passive forms of verbs etc.
Activities on Focus – seminar report, welcome speech, understanding the structure of exclamatory sentence, framing questions, preparing critical appreciation of poem etc.
Activities on focus – persuasive essay writing, email writing, report writing, writing reports on interviews etc.
Debates, discussions, interviews on textual and general – should be practised
Character sketches and review writing are prominent.
Letter writing, report writing, note making, précis writing, essay writing - text based but with general ideas be done with.
Travel brochures, travel essay, travel info, live TV report have to be focused.
Cohesive devices, concord , editing, if clause etc must be familiarized.
Format of each type of activities be specially followed.
Textual content be familiarized where as it should be modified with personal ideas and language as required in the examination.
Language elements should be made clear to enhance answering application level questions.
English Course Book for second year has been developed on the basis of specific themes and concepts so that it enhances their language skills to cater to their needs after their completion of the Higher Secondary Course. It includes different literary works – short stories, poems, plays, interviews etc. Due importance is given for grammatical elements. An integrated approach is adopted aiming at the linguistic and pragmatic competence of the students. There are five units.
Activities on focus: speech, panel discussion, poem review, designing blurb, narrating events from different points of view, analyzing characters etc.
Activities on focus: appreciating poem, character sketches, preparing and presenting announcements for various programmes, writing reviews, making news reports, preparing for debates and language practice – tense, reported speech, voice etc:-
Activities on foucs: creating blogs, preparing job application and resume writing, responding to interview questions, writing emails, using idiomatic expressions and phrasal verbs.
Activities on focus: drafting letters of enquiry, write ups on current social issues, preparing short essays , understanding different language expressions adverbial phrases etc.
Activities on focus: poem appreciation, writing scripts, writing arguments for debate and using ‘as if’ and prepositions.

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation
CCE is done to ensure the learner participation in the learning process, his comprehension skills, ability to present the knowledge acquired , his clarity of concept and its originality etc. CE is done by 3 types – learning process assessment, Portfolio assessment, Unit based assessment. Maximum score for CE is 20.Term Evaluation

For Theory Examination(TE) preparation:

Activities on focus: poem appreciation, writing scripts, writing arguments for debate and using ‘as if’ and prepositions.
For Theory Examination(TE) preparation:
Textual content must be clear to the students.Preparation be done to answer varied forms of questions – objective type, multiple choice, short answer and essay type etc.
Write ups, reviews, essays, character sketches, narrations – based on texts be expressed in own words. In addition to this,your own points related to the concept would make better answer.
Topic related debates and interviews can be expected.
e-mails, job applications, letters of enquiry – be given special attention

MUST KNOW (Plus One & Plus Two)
- Students are advised to follow the right format of each activity.
- Textual content and general ideas related to the topic be get readied for better performance
- Grammar part must be worked out at the application level.
- Score of each question be taken into care while answering questions.
- In the case of language, along with the content, organization of ideas, presentation, originality of language and competence in it will be considered.
