Poll panel removes cops for working at 'TMC behest'

Abhijeet Chatterjee   |   TT  | Durgapur   |  09.04.22  : The Election Commission of India  on Thursday removed the inspector-in-charge of Asansol (south) police station, Abhijit Chatterjee, and officer-in-charge of Jamuria police station Sanjib De in Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate on charges of partiality and working at the behest of the Trinamul Congress.

Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari had lodged complaints of political bias against several police officers and officers in civil administration with the ECI demanding they be removed from the election duty. Bypoll to the Asansol Lok Sabha seat will be held on April 12.
