Calgary Flames Re-Sign Forward

The Calgary Flames managed to keep another one of their forwards around, as they have re-signed Matthew Phillips to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, he will carry a $750,000 cap hit.

Phillips is a call-up candidate for the Flames in 2022-23, as he just had an excellent season with the Stockton Heat. In 65 games with the AHL squad, he scored 31 goals and recorded 68 points. That kind of production is certainly impressive, and he will be aiming to translate over that to the NHL from here.

At worst, Phillips will continue to key scorer in the AHL and depth option for the Flames. Let's see if he can make the NHL roster out of camp this fall.
