Emma Raducanu gets her title defence underway this evening in Queens, and while she’s been given a prestigious evening slot she’s playing on the US Open’s No 2 court, Louis Armstrong Stadium. That’s because some guy called Rafael Nadal is on Arthur Ashe, which is maybe justified when you’ve won 22 grand slam singles title.

The 19-year-old Briton has had a mixed lead-up to the tournament. On the one hand, she has had recent encouraging victories over Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka, on the other she has had a few minor injuries to deal with.
