Cardinals Claim Offensive Lineman

The Arizona Cardinals have added some help to the interior of their banged up offensive line. The team successfully claimed former New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings guard Wyatt Davis off of waivers Wednesday afternoon.

Davis joins the Cardinals after being waived by the Saints Tuesday. The Cardinals have been enduring a rash of injuries along their offensive line in recent weeks; Max Garcia, Rodney Hudson, and Will Hernandez are all hobbled, and Joshua Miles and Justin Pugh are on injured reserve. Davis should provide some much-needed depth.

Davis has failed to inspire much faith from any of his teams since entering the league as the Vikings' 86th overall pick. He appeared in six games as a rookie without logging a single offensive snap before the team shockingly waived him this past offseason. The Giants gobbled him up before releasing him a week later, and then the Saints took a chance on him before quickly pulling the plug as well. He had yet to log an offensive snap for the team.

Given Davis' relatively substantial draft pedigree, teams must really not like what they see in practice from the former two-time All-Amerian. Davis was one of college football's elite offensive linemen in his time at Ohio State, but his game has clearly failed to impress coaches in the pros.
